Basic Accent Modification Courses

The Mechanics of Spoken English

This Starter Course is a basic accent modification program which explains the speech muscles and movements involved in forming English consonants and vowels. An initial speech analysis highlights the sounds which pose the most difficulty for the client. Both this course and the complete Main Course give clients better control of their spoken English so they can be understood more easily.

The Music of Spoken English

This second Starter Course covers the melodic aspects of English such as intonation, stress, and rhythm patterns. These musical features of English help the speaker to sound natural and to convey not just the message but also its emotional tone. An initial speech evaluation highlights the acoustic features which may be inaccurate or absent in a client's speech.

Main Course

This is a combined accent modification program designed to improve overall oral production of English speech sounds as well as melodic features such as stress, intonation, and rhythm. Clients may request a post-training speech analysis upon completion of this course if they would like appropriate recommendations for continued practice of learned techniques and/or further communication training.
